Join us for an afternoon of hands-on learning & bean-to-bar chocolate making!
At ChocoSol, chocolate is more than a treat—it’s a tradition, a craft, and a way to bring people together. Our new monthly gathering invites you to experience the ancient practices of cacao and maize transformation while engaging in meaningful conversations on topics such as food sovereignty, sustainability, and ethical trade.
Led by an experienced ChocoSolista, you will learn the art of stone grinding as we process cacao and maize using traditional volcanic stone grinders from southern Mexico.
What to Expect:
The Story of the Stones: Discover the history and significance of the stone grinders that transform cacao into chocolate, and learn why this method matters for taste, texture, and tradition, from Metate, to hand grinders to bicycle blenders.
Fresh Tortilla Making: Starting with from locally sourced, organic maize, you'll get hands-on with the process of nixtamalization and stone-grinding maize into fresh masa (dough) to make your own tortillas to try and to take home.
Chocolate Molding: Work with freshly ground chocolate to create your own hand-molded chocolate pieces to take home.
Community & Connection: Gather for storytelling and discussion, sharing food and ideas in a welcoming space. Learn about ChocoSol’s origins and our special Reserva single-origin bars in the making at St. Clair West.
Copious Chocolate to take home: The Price of the ticket also includes chocolate that you built & Masa to take home.
When & Where:
