We are seeking an enthusiastic individual to join the ChocoSol team as a Retail Sales: Online Store Specialist to support our growing and dynamic team in sharing delicious, nutritious, ecological, and ethical bean-to-bar chocolate. ChocoSol is an organization passionate about developing long-term relationships with our own staff, local community partners, and our international horizontal trading network.
ChocoSol is a Learning Community Social Enterprise that makes stone-ground dark chocolate, also known as the ‘food of the gods’, using cacao sourced directly from growers in Mexico, Dominican Republic, Guatemala, and Ecuador. We process our delicious and nutritious bean-to-bar chocolate at our St Clair West facility and host in-house culinary events, workshops, and tours. The successful candidate is an individual who is passionate about ecology, chocolate-making, and supporting local food systems as well as being able to work effectively in a team environment that requires communication and support.
This position will involve cross-training into our boutique and will have a strong focus on e-commerce development, and servicing. and fulfilment.
Responsibilities:
Administrative/Organizational Duties
- Regularly check work emails for order specific queries
- Respond and follow-up in a timely manner
- Actively engage with Google Drive (Google Sheets, Google Docs, etc.) to access training documents and SOPs, and to effectively communicate with Lead Animators regarding scheduling, sick/vacation time, submitting hours worked, etc.
- Learning and diligence of the ChocoSol employee protocols, policies, and responsibilities
- Support fulfilment of orders from our online store
- Access our Shopify platform to generate daily order lists
- Accurately pack orders
- Create shipping labels
- Ensure all orders are processed and shipped in a timely manner
- Troubleshoot with customers any errors or
- Ensure online store inventory is stocked
- Support backend inventory management
- Support product assembly and packing when needed
- Maintain clean and clear work space
- Work with & maintain protocol with DEAR Inventory software to transfer inventory and keep stock of inventory.
- Developing and maintaining up to date SOP (standard operating procedures) for online store fulfillment and customer servicing
- Training new staff to follow procedures.
Sales
- Promote retail & online sales using effective sales strategies.
- Communicate your knowledge to customers about ChocoSol products, the business model, farmers markets, wholesale opportunities, etc.
- Accurate cash handling, including cashing in and out.
- Use of POS system to log all sales.
- Use of the Moneris system to process credit/debit card transactions.
- Support wholesale team by filling orders and gathering contacts from potential wholesale clients.
- Support ChocoSol’s growth by actively engaging in the opportunity to develop and improve our storefront space.
- Drive sales on ChocoSol’s online Shopify store.
- Provide enthusiastic sales and customer engagement at farmers’ markets and special events.
Hospitality
- Provide hospitality to guests & customers entering the space and to people contacting ChocoSol by phone.
- Make customers feel valued, listened to, and welcomed to our community.
- Make sure production staff and other team members feel respected and heard.
Barista (Basic for product knowledge)
- Brew and serve coffee to promote ChocoSol’s low-emission coffee beans.
- Make extraordinary and consistent xocolatl (Mexican chocolate drinks) and Mayan mochas (chocolate & coffee blend).
Cleanliness and general cleaning
- Ensure that the storefront space & equipment is routinely cleaned, organized, and sanitized.
- Ensure farmers’ market or special event setups are clean, sanitary, organised, and aesthetically pleasing.
- Share in cleaning duties (sweep, mop, bathroom cleaning).
- Maintain personal hygiene to a standard that is suitable for the food service/hospitality industry.
- After markets or special events, clean and put away all tools, equipment, supplies, and product.

Compensation: $17.45 $22.50/hour (depending experience)
